IT MAY BE HARD TO UNDERSTAND

Das Pop - Underground (Van She mix)

Similar to:

Shinichi Osawa, Daft Punk, Cut Copy

Why are they here?

I noticed that my posts have been championing some very dark bands recently, so as soon as I got to the point where I was uploading songs called 'Death' I decided to lighten the mood. This track was part of the soundtrack to my summer and reassures me of the fact that, when it comes to remixing, Van She are pretty much faultless. For further reference check out their amazing rework's of Klaxons (Gravity's Rainbow), New Young Pony Club (Ice Cream) and of course the world famous remix of '1234' by Feist as well as numerous others.

I'M GONNA FALL INTO YOUR ARMS LIKE A LITTLE BABY

An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump - Saints Don't Cry

Similar to:

The Breeders, Joy Division, Wire

Why are they here?

An Experiment... will be appearing at our S.C.U.M gig on Wednesday 17th September (more info on our myspace). Their music is as baffling and intriguing as their name with very few bands pushing boundaries and redifining modern music as much as these three ladies from London. They're currently set to play many gigs across the capital as well as heading over to Germany for the annual Berlin Insane Festival. If you're planning on just turning up next week for The Horrors then you'll be missing out on something truly special

I NEED TO CATCH MY BREATH

Magistrates - Colour Co-Ordination

Similar to:

The Rapture, Talking Heads, Black Kids

Why are they here?

A very promising band who we've been keeping tabs on for a few months now. They're getting themselves into all the best slots (London Calling, Gonzo on Tour, Black Kids tour support) to ensure they make it big in 2009. We at DDJY! are hoping that we'll be able to give them a show both before and during the new year

YOU'LL DO JUST FINE!

Ratty Rat Rat - Magpie She Wrote

Similar to:

Larrikin Love, The Libertines, Good Shoes

Why are they here?

Co-headliners of our gig this Thursday (September 11th), topping off a fine line-up that also includes The Joy Formidable, The Capitals and Meg Myatt (more info on our myspace). They play fun indie pop tracks that get your feet moving and even if they don't become huge they'll certainly make your day if you can get a listen

LIKE A HOLE IN MY HEAD

S.C.U.M - Second Sea

Similar to:

Joy Division, Neu!, The Horrors

Why are they here?

S.C.U.M will be the live headlining band at DDJY! on Wednesday September 17th. In their short career they've already found themselves as Artrocker cover stars as well as getting much press throughout the music industry including a recent NME Radar piece. Their dark, haunting alt-rock is dividing opinion everywhere, but in our eyes this is a band who'll be remembered for a long time to come... this is the music of the future so get used to it
